About Us
Hargreaves Law is a New Zealand boutique law firm specialising in IP commercialisation, technology transactions and strategic commercial advice.
I've spent more than 30 years as a commercial lawyer working at the intersection of technology, intellectual property and business. I founded Hargreaves Law to give clients direct access to that experience.
Before starting Hargreaves Law, I spent over 14 years at AJ Park, where I helped establish and then led the firm's commercial law team. We worked alongside the firm’s IP specialists to help innovators, founders, SMEs and large corporate and government clients develop their IP strategy and commercialise their technology.
Earlier in my career I worked on major technology and M&A deals at Simpson Grierson in Wellington and Mallesons Stephen Jacques in Sydney, and spent two years in London as European Technology Counsel for Citibank, handling technology, IP and privacy matters across its European operations. More recently, as COO of Power Trip Limited, I worked alongside the founder and leadership team on partnerships, customer acquisition, and business and product strategy.

Technology and IP deals can feel complicated, especially if you're not a lawyer. My approach is to cut through that complexity. I explain the issues in plain English, focusing on what actually matters commercially, and helping you make good decisions.
I work the way I'd want a lawyer to work for me: calm, straightforward and always keeping sight of the outcome you're trying to achieve.
Above all, I aim to be easy to work with. That means being responsive, direct and genuinely invested in helping you get your deal done — whether you're a founder doing your first licensing deal, or an experienced team navigating your fiftieth. You will get direct access to someone who has done this for over 30 years.
